Remote Senior Platform Manager, Data Products, Finance Accounting

Other Jobs To Apply

Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.

The Community You Will Join:

Airbnb's Business Technology (Biztech) organization sits at the heart of how we scale our internal operations to match the pace and ambition of our products. Within Biztech, the Finance Accounting Platform team owns the core finance accounting platform — the system that records, processes, and reports the financial lifecycle of every product Airbnb offers to the world.

As a Senior Platform Manager on this team, you will be embedded in a rich, cross-functional community spanning the full breadth of Airbnb's business. You'll partner daily with Product and Platform Managers across Payments, Trust, Guest & Host, Pricing, Insurance, Hotels, and Customer Service — as well as Finance stakeholders from Revenue Controllership, Treasury, Tax, Payments Legal, Consolidation, Collections, and Cash. You'll work closely with Data Engineers and Oracle Applications teams to bring platform solutions to life, and collaborate with FP&A and Business Unit teams who depend on the data your platform produces.

This is a role for someone who thrives at the intersection of finance, product, and engineering — and who finds energy in being the connective tissue across a large, diverse, and highly capable community.

The Difference You Will Make:

You will be the strategic and operational owner of the finance accounting platform — the single point of accountability for shaping how it evolves to support Airbnb's growing portfolio of product offerings.

Your impact will be felt across three dimensions:

Scaling the platform with Airbnb's ambitions — You will define and drive the long-term roadmap for the finance accounting platform, ensuring it can scale to support new product lines, geographies, and business models. You will own prioritization across a high-volume platform funnel — balancing competing requests with clarity and structured decision-making — and continuously identify opportunities to optimize platform performance and reliability.

Bringing new products to life on the accounting platform — Every time Airbnb launches or evolves a product, there is an accounting story that needs to be told accurately and at scale. You will lead that effort end-to-end — from initial accounting impact assessment through solution design, engineering alignment, UAT, release coordination, and production normalization — translating complex product changes into well-designed accounting workflows that record product lifecycle financials to Oracle FAH GL.

Strengthening the financial foundation — You will help define and refine data pipeline monitoring controls, support month-end close processes, and partner with Finance stakeholders to automate manual operational workflows. Your work will directly improve the accuracy, timeliness, and reliability of financial data that flows across Airbnb's Finance organization and beyond.

A Typical Day:

No two days look the same, but here's a window into what you might be doing:

  • Syncing with a cross-functional Product Manager from the Payments or Hotels team to understand an upcoming product change and assess its downstream accounting implications
  • Reviewing a technical spec with Data Engineering to align on the implementation approach for a new accounting workflow feeding Oracle FAH
  • Running a UAT session with Revenue Controllership and Tax stakeholders to validate that a new product's financial lifecycle is being recorded accurately before it goes to production
  • Pulling and analyzing ad hoc data using SQL to support a Finance or FP&A team working through a close question or business case
  • Triaging and prioritizing new requests coming into the platform funnel — aligning stakeholders on sequencing and tradeoffs against the broader roadmap
  • Reviewing data pipeline monitoring alerts and working with engineering to resolve a control gap before it impacts month-end close
  • Leading a working session with Treasury or Collections to map out an opportunity to automate a high-touch manual process
  • Drafting a platform update for a senior Finance stakeholder that translates a complex technical change into clear business impact

Your Expertise:

Accounting & Finance Domain

  • Subject matter expert in accounting principles and ASC 606 revenue recognition, with the ability to apply standards to complex, multi-product digital marketplace environments
  • Proven experience implementing end-to-end accounting workflows across quote-to-cash cycles, including reporting and reconciliation
  • Hands-on experience supporting B2C product workflows on finance platforms — ideally at a high-growth, high-transaction-volume technology company

Technical Depth

  • Solid SQL skills and proven ability to work with large, complex datasets — including writing performant queries against partitioned tables, aggregating high-cardinality transactional data, and troubleshooting data anomalies at scale
  • Deep understanding of big data principles — including distributed data processing, batch vs. streaming pipelines, data partitioning strategies, data lake vs. data warehouse architectures, and the tradeoffs between latency, throughput, and consistency at high volume
  • Strong grasp of transactional data characteristics — including event-driven data structures (bookings, cancellations, payments, refunds, adjustments), ACID properties, immutability of financial records, audit trail and lineage requirements, multi-currency and multi-entity data handling, and period-end cutoff logic
  • Familiarity with subledger to General Ledger data flows — understanding how product-level financial events are transformed, aggregated, and posted as journal entries, and how to validate accuracy across that chain
  • Experience working with or alongside Oracle FAH, General Ledger, or equivalent ERP platforms
  • Ability to engage with technical design documents and align with engineering teams on implementation specifications
  • Familiarity with data pipeline architecture and monitoring controls — including SLA management, data quality checks, alerting frameworks, and reconciliation workflows that ensure financial data integrity across the close cycle
  • Actively leverages AI tools and technologies to accelerate productivity, improve analytical workflows, and identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes

Platform & Product Management

  • 6+ years of experience in platform management, product management, or technical program management with a strong finance and accounting data focus
  • Demonstrated ability to own and manage a complex, multi-stakeholder platform roadmap with a high volume of competing priorities
  • Proven track record of driving end-to-end delivery — from design and engineering through testing, release, and production normalization — in cross-functional environments
  • Experience operating in Agile and continuous delivery models; able to move with pace without sacrificing rigor or quality
  • Communication & Collaboration
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to modulate depth and style based on audience — from engineering spec reviews to Finance leadership briefings
  • Strong influencing skills and high EQ; proven ability to drive alignment across diverse, senior stakeholders without direct authority
  • Detail-oriented and highly analytical; comfortable structuring ambiguous problems and driving to clear outcomes
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and modern collaboration tools

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, Finance, or a related technical field
