CPA Position Overview

This Remote CPA position focuses on multi-state business tax preparation and filing. Tax work begins after all bookkeeping work is completed internally by our staff. A significant concentration of our business tax clients is located in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Candidates must have substantial hands-on experience preparing and filing business tax returns in multiple states.

This remote CPA position is:

100% permanently remote

Contract / 1099

This role is not intended for freelancers running unrelated practices, or one-off engagements.

CPA Responsibilities and Duties

  • Prepare and file federal, state, and multi-state business tax returns across multiple entity types and provide sound tax guidance
  • Handle Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia business tax filings and nationwide
  • Manage extensions, estimated tax payments, and federal, state, and local filing deadlines across multiple jurisdictions
  • Review completed bookkeeping financials, identify tax-sensitive issues, and coordinate with the internal bookkeeping team to resolve questions before returns are finalized
  • Use your own professional tax preparation software

This role is ideal for CPAs seeking a year-round, part-time, 100% remote position.

CPA Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Active CPA license in good standing (issued by any U.S. state or jurisdiction)
  • Current, valid IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN)
  • Proven experience preparing and filing multi-state returns
  • Expert with QuickBooks (all versions)
  • Minimum 5+ years professional tax preparation experience
  • Experience working successfully in a remote, team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet hard deadlines

Additional Requirements

Because we are contractors with federal and state government entities, final candidates must pass a background and credit check.
