About the position

The Workplace Safety Group - Safety Operations at General Motors is responsible for ensuring compliance with safety practices during the installation of new plant machinery and processes. The successful candidate will analyze safety data, assess site performance, and work closely with site leadership to foster a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities

Interface regularly with the plant launch team and local joint safety team.
Ensure contractors adhere to General Motors Safety practices.
Provide technical and regulatory safety advice to site operations.
Analyze Workplace Safety data and communicate results and trends.
Assess site Workplace Safety performance and conformance to requirements.
Assist with incident investigation and corrective action development.
Research and provide technical information to engineering support groups.
Monitor and evaluate safe work of contractors on site.
Summarize critical issues and escalate to leadership when required.
Support Workplace Safety culture in partnership with local site leadership.

Requirements

2 years of experience in the Environmental, Health, and Safety field.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Proficiency in both written and verbal communication.
Ability to analyze situations and develop appropriate safety measures.
Available to work alternative shift schedules, including weekends & holidays.

Nice-to-haves

BA/BS degree in safety or related field or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree.
2 years experience in the Environmental, Health, and Safety field.
Experience in OSHA Log Case Management.
