About the position

The Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills (BGCF) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Teen Center Director to oversee the Teen Center and youth programs for 6th-12th graders. This full-time position is crucial for the development and implementation of programs that cater to the needs of middle and high school students in Monrovia, Duarte, and Arcadia. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for working with teens, particularly in middle school settings, and will be responsible for supervising and mentoring both staff and youth. The Teen Center Director will work closely with a team to create a comprehensive program plan that includes mentoring, education, sports, recreation, clubs, social activities, and social-emotional learning (SEL). In this role, the Director will supervise and train staff and volunteers, ensuring that they deliver quality programs that align with the Club's mission and values. The position requires planning, organizing, and implementing various programs, events, and activities both on and off-site. Building relationships with members and providing guidance, support, and mentorship to teens is a key responsibility. The Director will also coordinate with other departments to ensure the successful execution of programs and events, maintain accurate records and reports on program attendance and outcomes, and participate in fundraising and development activities to support the Club's mission and goals. The Teen Center Director must create and maintain a safe, positive, and engaging environment for both members and staff, and perform other duties as assigned. This position is ideal for someone who is not only experienced in youth development but also possesses strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage staff effectively.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, youth or social work, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with youth, particularly middle school or high school-aged youth.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, including social, emotional, and cognitive development.
  • Passion for mentoring and youth development.
  • Understanding and ability to work with a diverse group of youth.
  • Ability to create and implement relevant programs that are engaging, educational, and fun.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to motivate and manage staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with members, staff, and community partners.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office/Google Suite.
  • Conversational Spanish is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to transport students of all ages in Club vehicles.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and good work ethic.
