The Team: Amazon One is a new contactless identification technology that provides biometric authentication simply by hovering a palm. Our engineering teams build a large number of applications around this core technology, pushing the bounds of AI and deep learning capabilities to deliver best-in-class customer experiences.

The Role: We’re looking for an experienced engineering manager with a strong background or interest in deploying machine learning at scale. The leader of our recognition team builds and operates the engine that powers these Amazon One experiences using state of the art CV/ML approaches and technology. You will lead teams of engineers to solve a variety of technical challenges, collaborating with product, design, and research to deliver exceptional experiences, making tradeoffs between cost, performance, and complexity. Responsibilities

Lead the overall development life cycle of software solutions and manage complex projects with significant bottom line and customer experience impact.
Coordinate with your senior engineers to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development.
Assure that your team's designs meet requirements, and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.
Prioritize, plan projects and features, manage partners, and track external commitments.
Monitor operation of production services to ensure Operational Excellence.
Manage and foster the career development of your direct reports, and extended team.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of engineering team management experience
7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services experience
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
