About the position

The incumbent serves as a Security Guard assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at IMCOM supported installations. This position functions as the first layer of defense in a security-in-depth concept to deter, detect, delay, assess, respond, and document unauthorized access to Army installations restricted to the general public. Guards are responsible for preserving the life, health and safety of government personnel and safeguarding Army property, and technologies against such threats. Guards determine fitness and grant access to those individuals that have met screening requirements and demonstrated a need to access the installation.

Responsibilities

Serve as the first layer of defense in security operations.
Deter, detect, delay, assess, respond, and document unauthorized access.
Preserve the life, health, and safety of government personnel.
Safeguard Army property and technologies.
Determine fitness and grant access to individuals meeting screening requirements.

Requirements

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination.
Secret Security Clearance is required.
Must obtain and sustain state certification for operating NCIC terminals.
Must maintain a high standard of conduct as per AR 190-56.
Must submit to mandatory drug testing as per AR 600-85.
Shift work is required, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be proficient in the use of assigned firearms/weapons.
Must pass annual medical exams for physical, emotional, and mental stability.
Must successfully complete security guard training.
Must be trained in CPR techniques and first aid.
May be required to wear chemical protection masks and gloves.
Must maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license.
Must wear the Department of the Army Security Guard uniform.
Must maintain certifications in operating various electronic equipment.
Must not have any medical condition that precludes wearing a chemical protective mask.
Must be able to perform as a member of the installation's security response capability.
Must meet the requirements under the Lautenberg Amendment.
Position is designated Mission Essential and requires reporting during emergencies.
Heavy lifting requirement of 40 lbs.
