Summary

Provide health care services to students by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

(Other duties may be assigned)

  • Participate in medical examinations and review findings to evaluate health status of students and progress of program.
  • Provide first aid and emergency aid to students and school staff.
  • Administer prescription and non-prescription medication.
  • Administer mandated screening such as vision, hearing, scoliosis, and diabetes.
  • Assist in program for care of disabled children.
  • Instruct classes in subjects such as childcare, first aid, and home nursing and establish nursing policies to meet emergencies.
  • Cooperate with school personnel in identifying and meeting social, emotional, and physical needs of school children.
  • Plan school health program in cooperation with medical authority and administrative school personnel.
  • Assist teachers in instructing students in health and nutrition education.
  • Work with community agencies in planning facilities to meet needs of children outside school situation.
  • Follow Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and administration.

Education and/or Experience

Must have a Bachelor's degree and be a registered nurse with three to five years of related experience. CPR training

and Hearing and Vision Screening Certification is also required. The successful candidate will have a working

knowledge of school health policies and state guidelines.
