About This Role: In this position you will utilize your skills as an aquatic professional to carry forward the mission of eliminating drowning and championing safe aquatic environments for the citizens of Prince William County. We are looking for a candidate that is comfortable managing a large and diverse staff, someone who can provide consistent quality training and someone who has the operational expertise to manage a 7 day a week facility. 

This role can also be expected to: 
•Supervise a team consisting of 1 part-time Assistant Pool Manager, and a large group of part-time Lifeguards, Pool Operators, and Water Safety Instructors. 
•Supervise staff, including scheduling staff, creating, and writing annual evaluations, facilitating the staff discipline process, and managing employees to improve/maximize performance. 
•Provide excellent customer service. 
•Conduct programming and outreach, to include a large learn-to-swim program.
•Ensure the team meets all Ellis and Associates requirements. 
•Mechanically operate indoor pool and spa. 
•Become part of the Parks and Recreation Aquatic Team, including assisting with the standardization of operations and functions. 
•Schedule groups that utilize facilities for recreational swimming or instructor programs. Provide contracts, pool use agreements, and invoices. 

Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or G.E.D and 4 years of aquatics experience to include at least 1 year of supervisory experience. 

Preferences: 
Supervisory experience to include scheduling and management of part-time employees. 
Experience managing public aquatics facility to include opening/closing a building and maintaining pumproom standards to ensure compliance with the health code, submitting maintenance requests as needed. 
Staying up-to-date with current lifeguard standards and swimming instruction curriculum. 
Proficient with MS applications.
Certified as a lifeguard instructor and pool operator. 
Certified as a Water Safety Instructor.
Certified Parks and Recreation Professional. 

Work Schedule: This is a full-time, 37.5 hours per week exempt position. Sharron Baucom Dale City Recreation Center operates 7 days per week. Operating hours are 6am to 9pm, Monday through Friday, 8am to 8pm on Saturday, and 8am to 6pm on Sundays. Schedule may vary depending upon the needs of the facility. Occasional weekend and holiday hours are expected. Aquatics managers serve as part of a monthly on-call schedule.   

Special Requirements: 
The Department of Parks and Recreation conducts DMV record checks on all licensed employees and criminal background checks on all hires 18 years and older.  Fingerprinting may be required.    

Hiring Range: $69,284.76 to $81, 511.48
