A day in the life

As a Manager of Data Engineering, your days are dynamic and diverse, adapting to the evolving needs of your team and the organization. You'll often start by touching base with your team leads, addressing any urgent issues and aligning priorities. When needed, you step in to help solve complex technical challenges, leveraging your expertise to guide your team through difficult problems. You also play a crucial role in hiring and team growth, participating in interviews and making key decisions to build a diverse and high-performing team.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree
8+ years of experience in data engineering/analytics
3+ years of team leadership experience
Strong SQL and programming skills (Python, Java, or similar)
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS)
Proficiency with data warehousing and ETL processes
Experience with big data technologies
Understanding of data modeling and database design

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
Ability to architect scalable data solutions
Experience with data governance, security, and compliance requirements
Track record of building and scaling data engineering teams
Resource planning and allocation skills
Agile methodology knowledge
Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
