About the position

Wichita State University is seeking a dedicated IT Security professional to join our team, focusing on safeguarding our information systems from potential threats. This position is crucial in ensuring the safety of our data and sensitive information from both intentional and inadvertent access or destruction. The ideal candidate will possess a steady baseline of experience and knowledge in the IT security realm, coupled with a strong potential for growth and adaptability. You will be expected to work within established procedures while also being analytical and proactive in finding the best resolutions to security challenges. As a member of our team, you will serve as a liaison between the university and its affiliates, ensuring that security needs are met and that information is shared securely. Your role will involve understanding the security requirements of the user community and implementing necessary procedures to accommodate these needs. You will also be responsible for educating users on security protocols and ensuring compliance with these procedures. In addition to these responsibilities, you will assist in preparing status reports and security metrics, functioning as part of the incident response team, and escalating complex issues to higher-level staff when necessary.
