About the position

The Dallas Morning News is seeking a dedicated and digitally savvy High School Sports Reporter to join our team as a Senior Staff Writer. The SportsDayHS section focuses on highlighting both nationwide and statewide issues through the lens of North Texas high school sports. The successful candidate will have at least two years of experience in a professional news organization, although exceptional recent graduates with high-level internships may also be considered. While the primary focus will be on high school sports, the new hire will also be expected to contribute to other beats during off-peak times and cover significant events in North Texas. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of journalism experience; exceptional college graduates will be considered in lieu of professional experience.
  • Strong news judgment and excellent verbal and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with assigned deadlines.
  • Ability to interact productively and enthusiastically with fellow employees and all levels of management.
