Job Summary:

We are currently accepting applications for a friendly, reliable, and professional Fitness Desk Attendant to work at our fitness facility located in Arlington VA. The Fitness Desk Attendant serves as the primary point of contact for all members and guests utilizing the fitness facility. This role is responsible for delivering professional, welcoming, and service-oriented experience while ensuring the overall cleanliness, organization, and safety of the fitness environment.

This individual plays a key role in maintaining a positive member experience by providing exceptional customer service, supporting the fitness team with administrative tasks, and assisting in the coordination of fitness programs, personal training sessions, and special events. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet members and guests as they enter the fitness facility with exceptional customer service.
  • Respond to member/guest suggestions, concerns, and complaints in a timely, professional, and consistent manner and escalate to management as needed.
  • Fulfill front desk administrative duties and process member/guest payments in the JONAS system.
  • Ensure facility cleanliness and manage inventory of supplies and retail products.
  • Occasionally perform light cleaning, replace equipment wipes, and replenish water cups when necessary.
  • Submit help desk tickets as needed.
  • Assist with the administrative portion of Fitness & Wellness programs.
  • Network, engage, and interact with all members, guests, and clients in a professional manner.
  • Support coordination of fitness programs, personal training sessions, and special events.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in hospitality, fitness, or recreation management preferred.
  • Previous customer service or front desk experience, ideally in a fitness, hospitality, or country club environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Ability to multitask and manage a variety of administrative responsibilities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Proficient in basic computer applications and member management software (e.g., MindBody, Club Automation, Jonas, or equivalent).
  • Competency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and web applications.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of fitness equipment and facility operations is preferred.
  • Must have current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications (or willingness to obtain within 6 weeks of hire if scheduled as the only Fitness Center team member on duty).
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office systems and terminology.
  • Must speak professionally using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain and relay information to and from members, guests, and clients.
  • Strong team orientation and willingness to support the overall goals of the fitness and wellness department.
