THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the daily operations of the Clarion County Assistance Office (CAO) by helping manage applications, records, and customer needs. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Application Processing: Enter client information, and forward applications for Intake processing
  • Case Maintenance: Process applications or caseload reassign, and issue ACCESS cards
  • Front Desk Support: Greet visitors, provide assistance, and guide walk in customers to needed services
  • Phone and Messages: Manage messages received in the CAOs mailbox, handle incoming calls, and direct inquiries to the correct staff member
  • Mail and Faxes: Sort, process, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail and faxes each day
  • Scanning and Indexing: Scan and index SARs, renewals, and other records as assigned by supervisor

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday thru Friday with a 1-hour lunch.
  • Travel and overtime as needed.

  • Work Conditions: Assigned duties are performed in a controlled office environment. In counties with District Offices, employees may be reassigned to different work sites due to operational needs. Reassignments will be made in compliance with contract language.
  • Telework: This position may be eligible to telework part time. Specific details of the telework schedule will be discussed during the interview process. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Clarion County. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting salary of $36,108 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Clarion County. If no eligible candidates who live within Clarion County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
